Election vs. Selection

In recent weeks I have begun to hear the old adage that Bush was selected not elected in 2000 being resurrected AGAIN. Now usually I would allow this to pass without mention because it is usually spouted by those who are not educated or in most cases even vote. However, I have noticed that most of our esteemed democrats running for president are also spouting it and we need to give them a history lesson.

After the election issue went to the supreme court (where Bush asked for the WHOLE State of Florida to be recounted) Bush won the outcome based on the Gore campaign's refusal to allow a state wide recount and only wanted 4 heavily democratic counties recounted. The Supreme Court had no choice but to stop a biased count.

Interestingly enough, in the aftermath of the election, independent recounts were conducted by The Miami Herald and USA Today, concluding that Bush would have won in all legally requested recount scenarios.

So even though it was close and very heated President Bush was elected in both cases 2000 and 2004. May I also point out to those who love Bill Clinton he never received 50% of the vote in either of his elections. As a matter of fact Bush is the first candidate to receive in excess of 62 million votes and to receive 50% of the vote to win the White House since his Father in 1988.

So to all of you who scream and cry about Bush may I point out that while you are whining and crying W is still the President!
